Crystal is a musical theater writer, director, and performer based in Northern Utah, where she lives in a small ski town with her cat, Elvis. Crystal’s work spans original plays, musical adaptations, and bold theatrical experiments that reimagine classic stories for contemporary audiences.
Her plays "Summer Driving" and "Relative Art" were produced by Wasatch Theater Company, while her adaptation of Christina Rossetti's "Goblin Market" and the whimsical musical "The Emperor's New Freeway: An Evening of Fractured Fairy Tales" were both produced by Midvalley Players.
As a director, Crystal has helmed productions ranging from biographical dramas to children's classics, including "Amelia Earhart" (Fringe Festival), "Jane Eyre," "The Miracle Worker," and "Annie" for Children in the Arts, as well as "Cocaine," which earned a Best in Fringe nomination on the Fringe Festival circuit. In a career highlight that combined her loves of writing, composing, and performing, she created a one-act ballet based on "Jack the Ripper" for the Pearl Circus Festival—and danced the role of Jack.
